St Peter’s Youth Group meets on a Sunday evening 6-8pm for teenagers from Year 10 to late teens. We spend time playing games and doing bible study and prayer. Sometimes we follow the themes that the main church is teaching on and sometimes we focus on specific teenage issues. We also have social evenings, film nights and once a year we go camping to ‘Soul Survivor’ in the Bath and West Showground which is a teenager 5 day festival organised by New Wine Ministries. Anyone is welcome and we are very friendly if rather loud!
In October 2014 we took 8 young people and 5 leaders to Macedonia to work alongside the Methodist Church in some of the projects they’re involved in. The young people raised £4000 with the help of lots of church family and friends. It was an amazing opportunity and everyone really enjoyed it.
Visiting Macedonia was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed learning about the history of Macedonia and how the country had become what it was. What struck me most was that most of the houses in the villages were uninhabited because people go to work abroad in places like Italy and only return for about two months of the year. There was also apparent wealth next to extreme poverty and racial segregation between the Macedonian and Roma communities. The people of Macedonia were extremely welcoming and the younger children we worked with on the Tuesday were just amazing.
In November 17 of us went to Bath to the ‘Big Church Night In’ where Rend Collective and Phil Wickham led worship. It was a really fun evening praising God.
The Youth Group recently did a service on identity. They really enjoyed doing it. Thank you for your positive comments.
